Richard Ashcroft with Ocean Colour Scene & The Sherlocks

Richard Ashcroft will perform an exclusive outdoor show in the stunning grounds of Englefield, near Pangbourne in Berkshire this summer, as part of the Heritage Live concert series.

The iconic singer-songwriter will perform in the grounds of the Elizabethan country house and estate on Saturday 22nd July 2023, alongside special guests for the event Ocean Colour Scene and The Sherlocks.

Promoter, Giles Cooper of GCE Live said:

“We’re so excited to be promoting this show with Richard for Heritage Live. I remember seeing The Verve’s first ever London gig at the King’s Head pub in Fulham in 1991, when I worked at NME, with just ten people in the audience. It culminated with Miles Leonard agreeing to sign them to Hut Records by the end of the night!

Thirty years later and Richard has stood the test of time, becoming one of rock’s truly iconic frontmen. So many classic tunes that everyone knows every lyric to, will make for a classic show, and to have Ocean Colour Scene on the bill too - this will be such a night to remember. We can’t wait!”

Richard Ashcroft is a two-time Ivor Novello winner (Songwriter of the Year in 1998 and Outstanding Contribution to British Music in 2019) who has released five Top 5 solo albums, including the #1 debut 'Alone With Everybody', and most recently last year his #2 album 'Acoustic Hymns'.

He first came to attention with The Verve, with who he released one of the biggest albums of the era in the shape of 'Urban Hymns' (the UK's 18th biggest selling album of all-time) as well as a succession of anthems which remain staples of his live set today, including 'The Drugs Don't Work', 'Bittersweet Symphony', 'Lucky Man' and 'Sonnet'.

Ocean Colour Scene, consisting of frontman Simon Fowler, guitarist Steve Cradock and drummer Oscar Harrison, have notched up ten albums of influential and commercially successful hits since their formation in 1989. Three of these – 1996’s ‘Moseley Shoals’, 1997’s ‘Marchin’ Already’, and 1999’s ‘One From The Modern’ went Top 5, and included a run of nine successive Top 20 singles commencing with 1996’s The Riverboat Song.

Indie band The Sherlocks, formed in South Yorkshire, will perform at Englefield ahead of their eagerly anticipated fourth album ‘People Like Me & You’, out on 11th August. It follows on from the band’s hugely successful first three albums that have seen them tour around the world, and establish a fiery live reputation as having performed on the mainstage at Reading and Leeds, as well as performing in arenas as guests of Liam Gallagher, Kings of Leon, and Kaiser Chiefs.
