Foraged Floristry Workshop: Winter Wreaths

Make your own festive wreath

17/11 5pm-7pm 19/11 1:15pm-3:15pm

After a warm, fuzzy and festive launch last December, Green Feather Flowers is excited to announce the 2nd year of its Winter Wander Wreath Workshop! Learn to make your own festive wreath using materials foraged from your local area. Before your visit, take some time walking in nature to gather materials. Leaves, twigs, berries, evergreen branches, seed pods, dried flowers and feathers all make great natural decorations. Many can be found on the floor having fallen from trees and plants naturally in Autumn. Bring your foraged spoils along and receive step-by-step tuition on how to make a natural wreath ring and techniques for decorating it with your gathered materials in the most effective way. Wreath ring branches & assembly equipment provided. If you have a wreath base from a previous year (natural or metal) why not support the planet by reusing it?

Tips:

  • Choose elements of different shapes, sizes and colours to make a visually engaging and attractive wreath.
  • If collecting materials ahead of time (e.g. beautiful Autumn leaves) store in a dark, cool, dry place to help preserve colours and dry effectively. Warm or damp conditions can encourage mould.

Where to Wander?

  • Your garden
  • A friend or family member’s garden (if taking cuttings, do ask permission)
  • Local parks; try Arthur Newbery, McIlroy, Prospect, Victoria Rec.
  • The Thames Path, accessed via The Roebuck or Scours Lane
  • The pavements of Tilehurst
  • Sulham Woods
