Friends of Caversham Court Gardens Spring Talk and AGM

The Friends of Caversham Court Gardens will be holding their spring meeting on Wednesday 23rd April, 7pm for 7.30 pm, in the Reading Canoe Club on the Warren.
Architectural Historian Megan Aldrich will present an illustrated talk "Gothic in the Garden" about Caversham Court and its grounds in the early 19th century, when the Simonds family gave the Old Rectory a Gothic make-over. The revival of gothic design went hand-in-glove with the demand for eye-catching small buildings in the landscape gardens of the eighteenth century. This talks looks at the gothic additions to the traditional architecture of Caversham Court and what they meant in the context of Picturesque landscape gardens in Britain.
