We're really pleased to have booked this legendary 11-piece r'n'b, soul funk band, still going after over 40 years! The Backbeat Band gigged continuously around the South East from the 1980’s until 1996.
Having reformed in 2017 to commemorate the life of their former band member and musical mentor, Stewart Tippett, Backbeat held a twice yearly ‘Soulstice’ in Reading for their devoted following and also welcomed new fans to their respectful covers of songs by artists including Jackie Wilson, Ruth Brown, Wilson Pickett, Louis Jordan, Ann Peebles, Fontella Bass, Edwin Starr, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin.
Backbeat Band’s mission is to have fun and play music for DANCING!
Featuring Alison Rolls and Colin Armstrong - lead vocals; Dave Gray - guitar & lead vocals; Pete Thompson – bass; Craig Broadfoot – keyboards; Simon Price – drums; Di Whittaker - backing vocals; Sean Horsey - tenor saxophone; Dick Hanson - trumpet (Graham Parker and the Rumour); Steve King - alto & baritone saxophone; and special guest Neil Packman - harmonica.
This will be a nostalgic trip for many and a night of partying and dance.
