The Stories In The Park story...
Stories conceptualises the idea of a modern day party where customers seek more value in the events that they attend with large scale production, big name artists & high quality food & drink.
The Stories brand started as a small day party giving the students of Reading University something different from the usual club nights out. After releasing tickets and selling out (700) in just 5 minutes we realised we were onto something big. After selling out 6 shows just a year later we decided to take things to the next level putting on a festival encompassing all the elements that made Stories’ events successful in the first place but keeping it intimate and friendly whilst up scaling.
The first Stories In The Park took place at the end of September during Freshers Fortnight and the second event was in the following June, celebrating the end of exams and start of Summer holiday. We look to replicate this structure of two events a year whilst growing each event.
It has become one of Berkshire’s favourite niche music festivals with guests praising it for its intimacy, artists, incredible production and relaxed atmosphere.
MUSIC
The main stage focuses on more commercially relevant artists that the 18-23 age demographic know and listen to regularly. We cover a broad range of the dance music spectrum on this stage from Garage to Drum & Bass to House music.
The last headliner for main stage was Sonny Fodera who has had endless dance music hits and is as relevant today as ever. We received a lot of praise for the artist bookings from the last event and are looking to emulate this each year with big name headline acts that may otherwise n0t come to the area.
The second stage focuses on the softer niche end of the scene honing in on Disco & Classic House and attracts the non-mainstream dance music enthusiasts of the area. The second stage is also aimed at elevating local music brands & talent, diversifying the mix of music and the crowds that it attracts.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
We are committed to reducing the environmental impacts of our events and becoming more sustainable through reducing waste and litter trying to protect the natural environment of Palmer Park. We work collaboratively with the local council and community to achieve this.
In September 2019 over 80% of attendees from last event came from Reading and surrounding areas reducing the carbon footprint and making the event more localised.
The event received very positive feedback from council and local authorities in terms of the restoration of the site post event and dealing with any complaints being proactive and coming to solutions quickly.
Our policies include:
-
No single use plastics where possible
-
75% local food & drink suppliers
-
