Kennet and Avon Canal Walk from Hungerford to Kintbury
A joint walk between RCHS London Group and BIAG focussing on transport history and the industrial archaeology of the canal.
Meet outside Hungerford Station at 10:30 following the departure of the 09:33 from Reading that arrives Newbury at 09:54 to change train and pick-up the 10:11 service to Bedwyn that arrives at Hungerford at 10:22 to walk down to the start at Hungerford Lock & Wharf (74). A day return ticket Reading to Hungerford is £7.70 with a Senior Railcard.
This is number four in our series of walks along the Kennet & Avon Canal viewing the transport history and industrial archaeology of the canal and has been designed as a short winter walk. It is a linear walk along the canal starting from Hungerford Wharf (turning east) and walking to Kintbury Lock (78) where there will be an opportunity for a post walk pub lunch at the Dundas Arms before taking a return train from Kintbury (either the 15:50 or 16:51) for a return train to Reading.
