Third Lung and local record store ‘Pop Classics’ team up to release new Double A-Side 7” Of Pin Stripe Maroon and Tic Tac

Reading-based indie rock band, THIRD LUNG, have been snowballing a UK following on the live circuit, and have recently signed to the iconic Marquee Records. Snapped-up by the label earlier this year, Third Lung have now teamed up with their local Record Store, POP CLASSICS, to release their next offering. Their 7” Double A side of TIC TAC and PIN STRIPE MAROON, available only and exclusively from POP CLASSICS, in their hometown of Caversham, Reading.

When the band first dreamt up the idea and approached the store regarding the exclusive release, having just rocked the packed out Pop Classics for Record Store Day 2024, shop owner Damien Jones jumped on the idea saying. “Let’s do it! We have to do it, it's just too cool to miss. Let’s go for it and worry about the details later!”  The band never imagined their next official release would be co-funded by their favourite local record store but hey, here we are!

Speaking about the partnership, Third Lung’s lead singer and songwriter Tom Farrelly is ecstatic. “It’s simply the coolest thing We've ever had the privilege to be a part of. When Cams first cooked this up, we figured, as an independent band, it would be the funding that would stop us from getting this off the ground. Then Damien jumps in, puts his money where his mouth is, and backs a local band. It doesn’t get more legit than that. It reminds me of those little independent record stores you read about in the 50’s. Recording the local artists out that back, and selling the wax out the front.”

Third Lung are Songwriter/Lead Vocalist/Guitarist/Drummer Tom Farrelly, Bassist/Songwriter Rob Jacques and Guitarist/ Songwriter/Vocalist Camilla (Cams) Jurasek. Their releases have received countless compliments from the likes of Radio 6 Legend, DJ Steve Lamacq and constant support from the BBC Introducing team, alongside numerous radio stations in not only the UK, but across the world. They won the Wigwam Radio ‘Best Band of 2021’ Award, are strongly supported by BBC Introducing and Charlie Ashcroft at Amazing Radio who said ‘Third Lung are building towards something truly BIG, their song craft is second to none”

What to expect: PIN STRIPE MAROON, the first track, from the upcoming 7” double a-side vinyl, received immediate radio praise when released digitally back in May 24’, from the likes of Radio 6, BBC Radio Berks, Amazing Radio, BBC introducing, Wallingford FM to name a few. The second single, TIC TAC, will be digitally released on 23:08:24, with the limited run of the 7” vinyl being available to buy from 25:08:24 only at Pop Classics!

To celebrate the release, the band will perform live outside the store on the Reading Festival bank holiday weekend, Sunday 25th August 1pm. Take Cams’ advice when she says “Caversham is always buzzing on the festival weekend. It’s the perfect time for us to put on a show, so come down and join us, grab some pre-drinks before you head into the festival, and see how it’s supposed to be done! Go big or go home!”
