RABBLE Theatre announce exciting education programme for adults and children

RABBLE Theatre Education are pleased to announce an exciting programme for adults and children in Reading designed to boost creativity, confidence and community in January 2026.

The company, who welcome up to 800 students each term to their programmes, are perhaps best known for their professional productions, but to many local people their educational opportunities have become an important aspect of their lives.

Young Company is one of the most supportive, kind atmospheres I’ve ever experienced and no matter how you look, dress or act, no one here will judge you. I feel like I can really be myself here.” - RABBLE Young Company student

Young Company Juniors, who are led by professional actor Mark Middleton (The 39 Steps - West End, Henry I - RABBLE Theatre), will be producing their own production of the beautiful and best-selling illustrated children’s book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse written by Charlie Mackesy.

Directed by Jack Norris (David Glass Ensemble, Gecko Theatre), Young Company Seniors will be focusing on Useless Magic a new play written by Noah Cox, who is a young writer, graduate of Reading University and beneficiary of the RABBLE Theatre career development programme.

Young Company Musical Theatre will be heading to East high School to bring the brilliant High School Musical to life. Directed by Dani Mac, former touring musical star who recently created the combat choreography for a world tour of Lord of the Rings

Students at RABBLE’s adult acting class, Get Up On Stage will have the opportunity to study and perform the works of Beth Flintoff. Since 2016, Flintoff has been RABBLE's Associate Artist and is now also Associate Playwright & Young Writers Associate at The Royal Court Theatre. She is the writer of many acclaimed plays including Henry IMatilda the Empress and The Ballad of Maria Marten (Nick Hern Books' second most frequently performed play around the world). Students will explore her work through a variety of acting exercises, readings and explorative techniques, before choosing scenes to perform at the end of term.

There is nothing else like RABBLE. [They] offer high-quality cultural experiences that are inclusive, accessible and inspiring. It’s the people’s theatre company, always asking what we want and then going out there and providing it. Thank you RABBLE!” - Get Up On Stage Participant

RABBLE’s Head of Education, Hannah Thurston Smith said: “Watching students grow in confidence and creativity week after week, term after term is extraordinary. Whether you’re six or 96, we would love to welcome you to our RABBLE. We aren’t just a theatre company, we are a community who loves to see people build their confidence, creativity and connection”
