A Journey Through some Great Italian Red Wines

From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the volcanic slopes of Sicily, Italy is home to an extraordinary variety of red wines – and this tasting is your chance to explore some of its most famous grapes, regions and styles without leaving Stanlake Park.

Join our Director and wine expert Natalia for a relaxed journey through six Italian red wines, tasting your way across the country and discovering just how different Italian reds can be.

We’ll start with the freshness and elegance of Valpolicella, before exploring the rich, sun-drenched character of Negroamaro from Puglia, the generous fruit of Montepulciano, and the unmistakably Italian charm of Chianti. We’ll then head south to discover Nerello Mascalese, grown on the volcanic soils of Sicily, before finishing with the powerful and fascinating Aglianico.

Along the way, Natalia will talk you through the regions, grape varieties and different styles, with plenty of stories, tasting tips and discussion. Expect an informative evening, but a very relaxed one – there’s no wine snobbery here!

Whether you already love Italian wine or usually find yourself staring at an Italian wine list wondering what on earth everything means, come with an open mind, a love of wine and plenty of questions.

Afterwards, why not stay a little longer and enjoy another glass or two in our cosy Wine Bar? We close at 8pm on Thursdays.

With six generous wine samples included, we recommend arranging a taxi or travelling by train so you can fully relax and enjoy the experience. Twyford Station is within walking distance of the estate, with direct Elizabeth Line and National Rail services from London.
