HOT EARTH RECORDS and WK LIVE TAKEOVER

HOT EARTH RECORDS and WK LIVE TAKEOVER 🔥

Hot Earth Records and WK Live are taking over The Purple Turtle for a night of alternative live music, bringing three brilliant acts to the stage:

Squeezing us into their UK/EU tour for one night only, we welcome Dublin’s finest Really Good Time to headline our 2nd curates night. RGT’s name says it all, think Vertigo era U2 covering Viagra Boys, in Boilersuits with party bags and well, good times. Deffo not to be passed up on. Their debut album ‘Affirmations’ was released a few months back landed an Indie No. 1 on the Irish Chart.

The band have hit fests like SXSW, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn, Left of the Dial & the Iggy Pop curated In The Meadows, while supporting bands like Gurriers, Sprints, The Murder Capital, Warmduscher & Franz Ferdinand. They’ve received a fair bit of 6 Music airplay, & were compared to a blend of QOTSA and The Walkmen on Lamacq’s roundtable.

Taking the middle slot are Bournemouth based psych-surf outfit Leeches - the 3 piece seamlessly blend fuzzy, high-energy hooky guitar with a jazzy whoomping bass and drum grooves, set against angst-driven lyrics doused in a cathedral of reverb for good measure. By the time they reach our landlocked shores of the DING’ their debut album ‘Go Around’ will be with us (released via our southern pals imprint One Roof Records on the 9th of Oct.).
FFO of Ty Seagall, Pond & Pixies.

Finally opening up the night are our very own Doops - now staples of the Reading / Berkshire scene, who have been curating a range of post-punk & melancholic alt. rock for almost far too long. They, have been featured over at BBC Introducing & Radio X, as well as in notable publications such as Louder than War, DIY Mag, Clash & Dork. Over the years doops have opened for bands Opus Kink, Do Nothing, Divorce, Heartworms, GANS, Plantoid & Tummyache

There will be LIVE visuals from local dons Iridiphore & serving up some chaos on the decks in between bands with by Reading Rock Society and Band Society DJ’s
