2026 marks both the centenary of the birth of the iconic jazz trumpeter and also the 70th anniversary of two epic one-day recording sessions, which yielded four of his most revered quintet albums - Workin', Steamin', Cookin' and Relaxin'. Throughout his career Miles Davis' bands included the very best musicians, legendary saxophonists Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Wayne Shorter; pianists Horace Silver, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett; bassists Oscar Pettiford, Paul Chambers, Ron Carter and Dave Holland; and drummers Max Roach, "Philly" Joe Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Jack De Johnette, among many others. Tonight we revisit some of the repertoire of Davis' classic quintets of the 1950s and 60s.

Saxophonist Jonathan Lewis has appeared alongside many British jazz masters, including John Taylor, Ian Carr, Bill LeSage, Don Rendell, Stan Sulzmann, Stan Tracey, lain Ballamy, Jonathan Gee, Laurence Cottle and lan Thomas. He is also a skilled arranger, with the big bands of the BBC, drummer Pete Cater and saxophonist Jay Craig among the ensembles who have performed his charts. Locally, he is active as a member and arranger of Remix Jazz Orchestra.

Trumpeter Stuart Henderson is one of the country's finest jazzers, playing at many festivals including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Brecon. He is musical director of the Remix Jazz Orchestra and former principal trumpet of The Scots Guards Band, in Her Majesty's Household Division. His commercial recordings include the Rebecca Poole quartet, the String of Pearls and Joe Loss.
