Janine Roebuck - Soprano with a Secret

Mostly G&S invite you to this special event on Saturday 27 June 2.30-4.30 pm (doors open 2.15) at Brookside Church

Janine Roebuck - Soprano with a Secret

Despite being told at 18 that she was going deaf, Janine followed her dream to be a professional singer performing in opera and musical theatre across the UK. She made her debut with New Sadlers Wells Opera and sings Phoebe on their recording of The Yeomen of the Guard (Mostly's next show 12-14 November 2026!).

She kept her disability a secret for 30 years but finally decided to go public with support from the RNID as the only deaf mezzo-soprano in the world. She is well known for her work as an ambassador for the deaf and for her positive outlook. In 2019 she took the life-changing decision to have bilateral cochlear implants. You may have read about her in the press and on the BBC recently.

Informative, moving and hilarious; if you love music and the theatre, or if you or anyone you love has a hearing loss - this is a talk for you.

Refreshments provided.
