Join Adrian Lawson and Nature Nurture for a twilight walk from the hidden oasis of Holy Brook Nook to the wide open beauty of Fobney Marsh.
Type of Walk
Guided tour - learning something new / more talking and less walking
More detail
We will begin in the leafy calm of Holy Brook Nook, a pocket of nature close to the town centre, before following the footpath along the Holy Brook to the south and west. As we move away from streets and into softer landscapes, you'll notice the gradual shift from urban edges to open marshland. Walking at this time of day brings a different atmosphere. Light softens, birds change their song, and the landscape feels slower and more spacious. Along the way we will pause to notice wildlife, listen to the sounds around us, and share stories about the history and ecology of these connected green spaces.
By the time we reach Fobney Marsh, Reading's most beautiful and biodiverse wetland site, you'll have experienced just how closely town and nature sit side by side. Expect a relaxed pace, friendly company and a fresh perspective on familiar places. Walking boots are an essential for this walk. Wellies advisable if there has been prolonged wet weather. Binoculars are recommended as there is much to see.
