Mel-odramatic musical magic with the Aldworth Philharmonic

It’s music that paints pictures as you listen

All Saints Church in Wokingham will come alive with drama and beauty as we present an exhilarating evening of orchestral music on Saturday 31st January, 7.30pm. This concert promises a rich tapestry of sound, blending sweeping Russian themes, delicate French impressionism, and English lyricism in a programme designed to stir the soul.

From Borodin’s heroic overture and passionate symphony to Delius’s lush romanticism and Debussy’s shimmering elegance, this is a journey through contrasting worlds of drama and serenity - all under the baton of APO’s brilliant Assistant Music Director, Mel Le Breuilly.

“As a Wokingham resident, it’s really special to be conducting this brilliant orchestra in my home town. I’m really excited about the music - I love every piece in it! Borodin’s music is bold and full of life with some beautiful melodies, while the writing by Delius is just gorgeous, and Debussy brings playfulness and imagination. It’s music that paints pictures as you listen.”

APO performed its first concert at All Saints, Wokingham, in June 2025. Its ideal acoustic is complemented by good facilities (including underfloor heating), plentiful parking nearby and Wokingham railway station just a 10-15 minute walk away, making it an ideal venue for small-medium size programmes like this one.

As always, APO’s celebrated Concert Virgin scheme offers free tickets - no questions asked - to anyone who’s never experienced a live orchestral performance. It’s our way of welcoming newcomers to the magic of classical music. These complimentary tickets can be reserved via the APO website.
