Local alt. trio doops return to the Purple Turtle to celebrate the launch of their debut album ‘the space between’ on Saturday the 29th of November.
This will also be their last show for the foreseeable future.
The band have been a DIY scene staple over the last few years, playing packed out slots at local Festivals such as AYL & Readipop and have shared the stage with larger touring acts such as Opus Kink, Plantoid, Do Nothing, GANS, Alien Chicks & Really Good Time
FFO: QOSTA, The Wytches & Radiohead - ‘doops’ have been featured multiple times over at Radio X and BBC Introducing, whilst making it into press such as Clash Magazine, Dork & Louder Than War and onto playlists from Rough Trade & DIY Mag.
Their debut 10 track album ‘the space between’ is sonic exploration of the bands varied sound, and captures songs formed primarily over the last couple of years; with older tunes such as ‘Idle Hands’ and ‘Fever Tree’ displaying a raw fuzz filled punk edge, thrown against mellow-trip hop laced introspective tracks such as ‘Falling’ & ‘Forget-Me-Not’.
Support comes from South London, post punkers Curser (who coincidentally release their own debut album the week before at the Brixton, Windmill) - they return to the Purple Turtle, having previously slayed their first ‘out of town’ set back in late 2024. The band themselves have shared bills with notable acts and recently returned from Rotterdams acclaimed ‘Left of the Dial’ Festival.
Southampton’s Wonderlux open the night up with their dream psych pop sensibilities. Fresh from sets at Victorious Festival, Wanderlust and from ‘So Young Magazine’ live showcases, this quartet is making big waves sown on the South Coast.
