The event

The Ways and Means Trust, for 55 years, have supported adults with recurring mental and physical disabilities.

Initially based in the former Huntley Bourne and Stevens tin factory on London St they moved to Caversham then moved in 2014 to their current site in Rotherfield Peppard, where they run a Garden Nursery (Greenshoots) and a small contract packaging operation.

Their journey has undoubtedly been challenging as the income from contract packaging and other activities has contracted.

They run coffee mornings at various sites to sell their wares. They co-ordinate the T Kiosk in Caversham Court Gardens and organise Canine Capers, a Fun Dog show" in Caversham Court in July.  They do so many things to generate community support for their work.

Reading Civic Society has been fortunate to be able to work with them on our Look Draw Build@ Reading & Bristol Stations each year from 2022. They have reached out to churches in Reading to collect loo roll cores, CDs and plastic bottle tops for us. They have packed the materials we provide to the primary schools. We have held model railway station building classes with the trainees and exhibited their chosen model at Waterfest. A good rehearsal for us and fun for them.

The presentation will be given by the CEO Frances Woolaway BEM and Trustee Fred McCrindle.

Donations to the work of the Ways and Means will be most welcome (Suggested £5 per person).
