Tour of Historic Goring
For those interested in the rich history of our local area
Goring-on-Thames (Goring) is a village on the River Thames in South Oxfordshire. Across the river is the smaller Berkshire village of Streatley, often seen as a twin village. They are linked by Goring and Streatley Bridge and its adjacent lock and weir. A regatta is held here annually. It is at the intersection of The Ridgeway, Icknield Way and Thames Path. The village church, dedicated to St Thomas Becket, has a nave that was built within 50 years of the saint’s death, in the early 13th century.
Join the Goring Gap History Society for a tour of their village. Learn about the people and businesses that thrived there in the past, distant and not so distant.
