What About the Workers? Life and Love at Huntley & Palmers 1847-1976

The History of Reading Society are continuing their in person meetings at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, Reading RG1 3BE, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm) on Weds 13th December, when Joe Doak will be giving a talk entitled 'What About the Workers? Life and Love at Huntley & Palmers 1847-1976'.
Joe Doak, formerly Associate Professor at the University of Reading, will draw on material from his PhD research. He will explore the role that the factory’s employees made to the success of the company and the development of the buildings. We will learn about their work experiences, their wider influence in Reading and their lives outside the factory gates.
This meeting is on Zoom and is only open to History of reading Society members .
