Come and Sing Workshop - Postponed
Victoria's Missa pro Defunctis, 1583
-
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we can't bring you this workshop this month. We hope to arrange a new Come And Sing session soon.
Come along to our autumn workshop and enjoy singing great works by two revered Spanish composers. First, we will discover Victoria’s less well-known requiem, Missa pro Defunctis, composed in 1583. Second, the workshop features the music of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, one of the most important and prolific composers of Spanish Colonial America. Originally from the Andalusian city of Malaga, Padilla set sail for Mexico in 1622, later becoming composer for the Cathedral of Puebla and an influential figure in the music of Mexico and the whole of Latin America.
We will explore this wonderful music under the direction of the Musical Director of Reading Bach Choir, Daniel Mahoney, and a wonderful day is in store! And all good preparation for our concert on 25th November, when we will perform the more well-known Requiem by Victoria at St Andrew's Church, Caversham.
This class/workshop has already taken place.
