Reading emPOWERed: Paper Sculpture and Mark Making Workshop
Heritage Open Days 2023
Sat 16 Sep, 10:00-16:00
Join Jelly Artists and the Mills Archive Trust for a special workshop celebrating this year’s Heritage Open Days theme, 'Creativity Unwrapped’. Come and get in the creative flow, taking inspiration from wind and water power, past and present.
Your creativity will be unwrapped as you are gently guided by Jelly artists to create drawings, marks and patterns inspired by items from the Mills Archive Trust's historical records. Your drawings will then be turned into a wind paper sculpture.
This workshop is drop-in and open to all ages. Families welcome and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
This workshop is part of the Mills Archive’s ‘Reading emPOWERed’ project, which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and made possible by National Lottery players. Wind and water power have provided people with renewable energy for many hundreds of years. The Mills Archive Trust is expanding learning opportunities about the history of wind and water power in the local area, exploring the flow from traditional mills to modern turbines.
