Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil
Reading Pride‘s MyUmbrella LGBT+ organises the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil in Reading. This year, we will be continuing the vigil in a film presentation format, however this year we are now opening it up for the public to be able to attend as well.
Join us at either the Reading Biscuit Factory (entry is free) on Sunday, 20th November 2022 at 5pm, or you can watch it online from 7pm via YouTube.
The vigil is an important part of MyUmbrella’s calendar, as part of an LGBT+ charity we celebrate the diversity of being trans*, although we understand it is important to stand together and fight for more rights and equality not just locally but also in the UK and throughout the world.
As in years past, most of those lost to the ongoing epidemic of fatal anti-trans violence are people of colour, specifically black trans* women. The first TDoR vigil in Reading was held in 2015 with a large attendance across every section of the trans* community and allies.
