'Wakey Blakey' with the Ingham-Davison Sextet
... hard bop with a frighteningly fresh feel
'Wakey Blakey' with the Ingham-Davison Sextet
James Davison trumpet, Rory Ingham trombone, Mark Lockheart tenor saxophone, Will Barry piano, Adam King bass, Felix Ambach drums
Wakey Blakey is an exciting new band led by the multi-award winning team of trumpeter James Davison and trombonist Rory Ingham, that brings a frighteningly fresh and swinging feel to the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and his classic 1960's line-up of Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, Reggie Workman and the master himself ... Mr Blakey.
The front-line is completed by Mark Lockheart, one of Britain's most distinctive and creative musicians, who first came to prominence in the 1980's with the legendary Loose Tubes jazz ensemble.
The band's hugely talented rhythm section of Will Barry piano, Adam King bass and Felix Ambach drums, will guarantee the high-octane driving force for what promises to be a not-to-be-missed evening of music.
