Sea lions in the sun: conservation challenges and habitat preferences of California sea lions in Mexico
-
The local Berkshire Mammal Group and Cole Museum of Zoology at the University of Reading will host:
Dr. Manuela Gonzalez-Suarez, who is a conservation biologist doing mostly large-scale computational research now, but for her PhD Manuela worked in the field with a charming marine mammal: the California sea lion. During this talk, Manuela will cover some interesting taxonomic and natural history aspects of this species and explain her own research on sea lion habitat preferences and conservation challenges including observed population declines and what they could mean in light of observed genetic differentiation among colonies of sea lions within the Gulf.
There will also be a short AGM for the Berkshire Mammal Group before the start of the talk.
Doors open: 19:15 (allowing for an opportunity to look around the museum).
Talk and AGM starts: 19:30
