Commissioned in 1121 by Henry I, this year marks the 900th birthday of Reading Abbey!
In honour of the Abbey, StrikeUp present: '900 YEARS’, a 10 week Performance Poetry Course
- Learn to ‘write’ with your body, voice and imagination, as we work together to create a digital performance poem, imagining our lives in Reading in 1121.
- Explore who you might have lived as 900 years ago, as we create an epic poem interweaving all your stories, which we’ll film & edit for you to keep

Thursday Evenings, 8-10PM, across two terms:
- Term One – digital workshops, on Zoom: 29 April, 6, 13, 20 27 May
- Term Two – live workshops, Rising Sun Arts Centre, RG1 2ST and broadcast live: 10, 17, 24 June, 1, 8 July
