New storage space for local arts organisations
In the Reading Cultural Survey last year, one of the key highlights was the need for more space. Specifically, more storage space for props, costumes, instruments and more.
In a case of "you spoke, we delivered", Reading Borough Council's Culture Team made some calls. The Oracle has stepped up, kindly giving Reading's cultural sector free storage space. The first organisation - Reading Rep Theatre - moved in earlier this month.
Reading Rep said: "Storage has always been a great obstacle for Reading Rep Theatre. Being able to safely store our sets, costumes, props and equipment not only saves us money but also the environment - being able to reuse and repurpose as much as possible. A massive thank you to the Oracle and Reading Borough Council for making this happen."
There's still room for other organisations to make use of the space, but it's very much on a first-come, first-served basis so be quick!
This is just one of the ways RBC's Culture Team and What's On Reading are here to support arts and cultural organisations here in Reading. Keep an eye on our cultural resources hub for more info, insights and opportunities - and let us know if there's something specific you need help with.
