New Artistic Director Steps Into The Spotlight At READ College

READ College, the UK’s leading performing arts foundation college, is delighted to announce that Clara Vaughan has now taken up her new position as Artistic Director at READ College. Following on from Jamie Read’s departure, one of the Founders of READ College, Clara has taken the role alongside Helen Read (who stays on as college Principal) at an exciting time in the college’s history.

Helen Read said

“Jamie and I were delighted to find Clara in our search for a new Artistic Director for READ College. Her previous work in South Africa at The Market Theatre Foundation and beyond is closely aligned to our own and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from directing, launching theatre companies, and curating performance ‘Think Tanks’ to negotiating, designing and producing international performance collaborations and much, much more. We are sure her appointment will bring renewed energy and focus to our work and we couldn’t be happier to be welcoming her on board.”

Clara Vaughan commented,

“I am so excited to be joining the READ College family and helping to continue Jamie and Helen’s tremendous work in giving access to the arts to talented young performers. It is an exciting time for the college. This year we are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of our Acting Foundation course and over the years we have remained invested in supporting students from a variety of backgrounds and achieving industry leading success rates. We are passionate about our Outreach Programme and determined to help young talented people achieve their dream of a career in the performing arts. With a college which prides itself on its professional level of training, alongside exceptional pastoral care, I am delighted to be joining the READ College team and look forward to continuing the college’s excellent work.”
