Art’s at the very heart of the home as Whiteknights Studio Trail hits the road in 2025!

Celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year in 2025, the much-loved Whiteknights Studio Trail has artists and makers once again welcoming the community into their homes and venues along the Trail (WST).

The Whiteknights Studio Trail (WST) was the brainchild of three local Reading-based artists; Jenny Halstead (painter), Susana Beer (weaver) and Pip Hall (stone carver). The premise was simple – to create a walking tour of artists’ studios and venues across the Whiteknights area.

Now in its 25th year – the concept remains the same, with the walking tour taking place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June from 11am to 6pm on both days. There are 48 artists taking part, at 33 venues – some serving refreshments. Art and craft work from talented artists will be on display and for sale. Artists will be able to discuss their work and take commissions.

This year – to celebrate this great 25-year milestone, all artists taking part in the trail are producing and donating a unique piece of art – 25 x 25 cms and these will be shown together in a display at The Turret Gallery of the Abbey School. Funds raised will be donated to the Berkshire Hospital Charity Trust which supports hospital patients and visitors.

Jenny Halstead, co-founder of Whiteknights Studio Trail and participating artist, said: “We had no idea when we organised the first Whiteknights Studio Trail that it would become such a success and give so much pleasure to everyone involved - exhibitors and visitors alike and still be going a quarter of a century later.

“It is so great to see the community walking around the area of the Whiteknights Studio Trail during the weekend in June, brochure in hand - meeting artists in their studios or venues, seeing their work and learning about the process."
