Of Shepherds and Kings
A concert of music for Epiphany
At Tamesis we like to do things differently. We’re sure you’ll have plenty of opportunities to listen to Christmas carols and festive music as the end of the year approaches, so we’d like to invite you to join us for a concert of music for Epiphany.
January is often a quiet month, in the aftermath of Christmas and New Year celebrations, so we hope it will give you something to look forward to!
There will be familiar carols and favourites, but there will also be some refreshing additions to carry you along the road into the new year along with the Kings and Shepherds!
To celebrate the arrival of the three kings and the shepherds in Bethlehem, we will be singing Cornelius's timeless 'The Three Kings’ as well as a beautiful piece of the same name by Jonathan Dove. We will also be singing music by Chilcott (The Shepherds' Carol, Epiphany), Gjeilo (a beautiful arrangement of The First Nowell), Berlioz (The Shepherds' Farewell), Will Todd (My Lord is come), Rutter (The Shepherd's Pipe Carol) and a vocal arrangement of Bizet’s famous L'Arlésienne set to French lyrics as La Marche des Rois.
