Senior Summer Drama Camp: BULLY
Do you have a teen who is aged 13+ and loves drama?
Then come and join StageAbility for a week this summer.
The group will rehearse a play across the week of Monday 2nd to Friday 6th August.
Rehearsals will take place from 11am - 4pm at Calcot Primary School, just minutes from the M4). £150 for the week
Our Senior Drama Project will workshop and present Kirsten Docherty’s play BULLY!
BULLY! is a collection of vignettes, written within the genre of Epic Theatre: short scenes, monologues and duologues which revolve around the issue of bullying, including cyber bullying, racism, exclusion, peer group pressure, frenemies and bystanders. There are over 50 characters with each actor playing multiple roles. Every scene is based on real life accounts and events; some funny, some challenging, some heartbreaking, but all real.
Students can write or devise their own scenes in a similar style to integrate. The play is structured so addition of scenes is very simple.
Epic Theatre - "A form of didactic drama presenting a series of loosely connected scenes that avoid illusion and often interrupt the story line to address the audience directly with analysis, argument, or documentation. Epic Theatre is now most often associated with the dramatic theory and practice evolved by the playwright-director Bertolt Brecht, Germany, from the 1920s onward. Brecht’s intention was to appeal to his audience’s intellect in presenting moral problems and reflecting contemporary social realities on the stage.” Encyclopedia Britannica.
This drama camp is aimed at young people aged 13-18 years and promises to be a really memorable week for all involved. We can’t wait! Places are currently limited to 15 and we don't yet know when that will lift, so please book soon to avoid disappointment. Show tickets will go on sale at £7.50 per seat once we know that we are permitted to present the show in a theatre.
Please wear clothes that you can move in and bring a packed lunch each day and a refillable water bottle
I’m sorry but we are not registered to accept childcare vouchers.
We can currently run our workshops this year with a few additional safety measures in place. You can trust StageAbility to deliver a workshop that will be safe, fun and give your children a creative outlet to express themselves this summer! We shall update you on any changes we have had to make. Thank you for your support!
