Reading Community Choir

'Sing About Town' 2020

Thursdays 8-9:30pm

Reading Community Choir launches an exciting new project called 'SING ABOUT TOWN' in January 2020.

If you are a citizen, resident, worker, commuter, dweller of this town; then this choir is all about YOU.

'SING ABOUT TOWN' brings the people of our town together to sing fantastic songs which are inspired by different places, spaces, events and organisations that make Reading what it is.

At weekly sessions, sing contemporary songs (Coldplay, Elbow, The Beatles...see below) that communicate the energy, ethos, and narrative of special areas in our community which we are inviting you to celebrate in fabulous harmony - every Thursday evening.

LEARN - Experience the power of singing together in harmony.

Have fun learning each featured song at one of our weekly Thursday night rehearsals. (No sight reading, no audition - just singing socially).

We also run splinter sessions at local bars, community spaces and businesses where you can come along, join in and enjoy some social time too.

RECORD - Cut an album!

Yup, we are recording each song and making an ALBUM.

FILM - Every great song needs a music video!

We film a video for each song which is launched across our social media for everyone in Reading to enjoy and share.

Each music video features everyone involved in the recording (no pressure to be in it if you don't want to) and also includes as many people as possible who are personally involved with the featured place, space, event or organisation. A terrific showcase for the people and places in Reading!

PERFORM - Take part in live concerts and performances!

Be part of something really special and perform at our amazing Reading Community Choir 'Sing About Town 2020' Celebration Concert at Reading Town Hall on Sat 28th November 2020.

Celebrate all we have achieved throughout the year's project, singing the songs you have learnt, recorded and filmed - performing to friends, family, loved ones and the wider community.

GIVE BACK - Raising our voices for charity!

10 percent of all choir admission fees go to a charity nominated by or associated with each place or organisation our song choice is inspired by. Each project will raise funds for a different local charity including Launchpad, Royal Berks Charity, Readibus, Reading Voluntary Action & many more.

So last night this happened...
