Earth Action Challenge

Part of Reading Climate Festival

Have you got what it takes to be an Earth Action Ranger? Join Nature Nurture & friends for a family-friendly action packed afternoon ...

Join the Earth Action Challenge - an afternoon full of quests, games and creativity focussed on improving our planet for wildlife and people. The event is designed to make learning about our role as planet protectors, fun and engaging.

Explore the Earth Action Challenge activity zone and complete missions. Along the way, we'll learn about what we can do in our homes, schools and the wider world to help boost wildlife and combat climate change.

Watching the news can fill us with fear about our changing climate and loss of nature - this action-focused event aims to nurture positive young people, who are taking action for a better world.

Earth Action Ranger Rendez-vousLavender Place - a green oasis in the heart of Reading town centre.

This FREE event is aimed at 5 - 11s and their grown-ups.

We are delighted to be collaborating with Lavendar Place Sculpter in Residence, McAlistair Hood and Reading Libraries, who are kindly lending us lots of nature and climate action children's books.

This event is part of Reading Climate Festival, a week of free events to inspire and encourage positive action on climate change, run by Reading Climate Action Network in association with Reading Town Meal, with support from Reading's Abbey Quarter and The Great Big Green Week.

Lavender Place is located on the site of the former Civic Offices. The low-carbon garden was designed by RISC's Food4Families project to showcase sustainable food growing and gives practical ideas for tackling the climate emergency.

Please note:

  • The site is accessed by a stairway, just to the left of the Hexagon Theatre's main entrance doors. The garden itself is bumpy and not suitable for wheelchairs.
  • Children must be accompanied by their parent or carer at all times.
  • Please dress for the weather. The event will go ahead whatever the weather, except for strong winds.

We look forward to seeing you there!
