After starting his professional life as a cellist, playing with many of the country's finest orchestras, Philip turned to conducting in 1991, making his Royal Opera House debut with the Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker in 2001. He is Musical Director of Opera de Bauge, Opera Vera, the West London Sinfonia, the Norfolk Symphony Orchestra and The London Children's Ballet. He also appears regularly as a guest artist with orchestras at home and abroad. As a musical communicator Philip is making a reputation in Britain as both a highly informative speaker and a witty and entertaining raconteur.
