Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Adam Hickox

Adam Hickox, Conductor
Richard Harwood, Cello

Mendelsohn | Overture, Nocturne & Scherzo - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Tchaikovsky | Rococo Variations

Elgar | Enigma Variations

Inspired by fairies and enchanted woodlands of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Mendelssohn's score oozes brilliance and lyrical charm, perfectly capturing the magical mood of the play.

We meet more characters in Elgar's Enigma Variations, as the composer used music to paint enigmatic musical portraits of his friends and loved ones. One of the the greatest orchestral works of the 20th century, it continues to intrigue and enthral audiences to this day.
