Henley Symphony Orchestra March 2020

50th Anniversary Concert

On Sale 6 January 2020.

Ian Brown       Conductor

BRAHMS        Academic Festival Overture
MOZART        Piano Concerto No 20 K466
DVOŘÁK        Symphony No 9 ‘From the New World’

HSO, now one of the country’s leading amateur orchestras, is proud to celebrate both its 50th Anniversary and 21st concert at the Hexagon. We are delighted to perform Mozart’s dark and dramatic Piano Concerto No 20.  The second movement is a tender Romance, used so effectively in the soundtrack of ‘Amadeus’.
Dvořák’s most famous Symphony No 9, ‘From the New World’, has an apparently inexhaustible flow of melodies with a justly celebrated slow movement at its heart.  HSO last played this symphony at its first Hexagon concert in 1999 and so makes a fitting conclusion to this very special anniversary concert.

* Due to the current travel restrictions there has been a change to the advertised soloist. Apologies for any inconvenience and we hope that this will not deter you from joining us for this thrilling concert.
