Full line-up and new opening date announced for Market Yard Printhouse
Friday 26th November is the new opening date for Market Yard Printhouse, the entertainment-led food and drinks market taking place inside a former print works in Tessa Road, once home to the Reading Post which they are turning into a 1,200 capacity events space with three rooms and an outdoor terrace.
Market Yard, which was previously held as a pop-up in Hills Meadow, Caversham, will now run until Thursday 23rd December and has announced a full calendar of events to take place during its five week run featuring big name DJs, live acts (including chart toppers East 17), drag queen dancers, stand-up comedy, a power ballad singalong night, the UK’s no. 1 Adele tribute act and much more.
Infamous eclectic turntablist DJ Yoda is confirmed to headline the rescheduled opening evening session (7.30-11pm, Friday 26th November) with support from Reading hip hop talents OSP& Ash The Author performing live plus a back to back DJ set from Grandmaster Flash’s favourite local DJs, The Big JT & DJ Cypress Phil (Grandmaster Flash gave them love on his Instagram when they supported him at Sub89).
Every Saturday at midday until 3pm during the five week run, Market Yard Printhouse run a themed brunch, starting with a disco brunch on Saturday 27th November, where a £30 ticket provides you with 1 Street Food Voucher + 4 Drinks Tokens.
Good news for families too as children are welcome to attend sessions at Market Yard Printhouse that end by 7pm. This includes the arrival of Disco Shed on Saturday 27th November (3.30-7pm), fresh from wowing the crowds at Latitude, Camp Bestival & Leeds Festival, the shed comes complete with it’s own disco lights, projector screen and founding resident DJs Count Skylarkin and Peepshow Paddy.
Saturday night of the opening weekend (7.30-11pm, 27th November) sees legendary Hacienda, Ministry of Sound and Ibiza Rocks resident, DJ Paulette, take to the decks for a celebratory set of disco and house with local DJs Pete Wheeler & Ben Narbatus in support.
The first of weekly Cinema Club screenings kicks off at midday on Sunday 28th November with singalong favourite Mamma Mia. The same evening from 7.30pm, stand-up comedy comes to Market Yard Printhouse with Josh James and Carl Donnelly alongside Tom Ward & Emmanuel Sonubi, both of whom appear on the upcoming series of Live At The Apollo.
Bingo Lingo, the highly successful interactive bingo night bring their crowd participation and character-led bingo hosts to Market Yard Printhouse on Monday 28th November for a double session of fun and mayhem..
Much loved party starters and Dua Lipa remixers Horse Meat Disco headline Market Yard Printhouse’s second Friday night (3rd December 7.30-11pm) just weeks after their sold-out takeover of 3000 cap The Roundhouse in Camden. Local rnb acts Du’Val & Monique perform live in support alongside Rum n Donuts DJs
Brixton Radio DJs bring good vibes to the Saturday 4th December afternoon prior to a debut Reading set for RAW SILK, a fast-rising female DJ duo whose name adorned the majority of this summer’s festival line-ups for very good reasons. Local favourites Ryan MacGregor and Apollo Murphy provide support.
On Sunday 5th December from 3.30-7pm, Smooth Sundays launches at the venue with a full band live set of blue-eyed soul covers from Eat At Joe’s and local DJ duo Twin Sun playing a special DJ set of Yacht Rock and Balearic tunes.
Highlights throught the rest of December include UK’s best known pop night Guilty Pleasures bringing DJ Lady Lloyd (from Drag Queens Of London) and the Dream Team dancers on Friday 10th, Glitterbox DJ Natasha Kitty Katt with local disco duo Twin Sun on Saturday 11th, top draw tribute action from Abba Magic Duo on Sun 12th and One And Only Adele on Wed 15th, Glastonbury regulars Ultimate Power providing a power ballad singalong on Friday 17th and 90s chart toppers East 17 performing live on Sunday 19th December.
Alongside their entertainment programme (full details of all dates below), Market Yard Printhouse serve up a variety of street food and thirst-quenching drinks (including local craft beer from Double Barrelled Brewery and mulled Christmas drinks) making it a truly unique place where you can socialise, eat, drink and dance.
And if successful, Market Yard at Printhouse Reading (which is the follow up to Market Yard pop up at Hills Meadow in the summer) could relaunch in 2022.
