What Covid restrictions are in place?
Your comfort and safety remains our highest priority.
Rigorous testing regimes and backstage protocols continue to be in place for theatre staff and performers and we have worked with specialist teams in the Council, specialist contractors, promoters, industry bodies and used the Government Guidelines for live performance to ensure that our venues are Covid Safe.
To help keep you safe, our venues are cleaned before every performance and regularly disinfected.
Our helpful staff will guide you through the venue as routes may be changed in order to minimise your contact with others.
We have various hand sanitiser points at our venues. Please use these as frequently as you can during your visit.
We do not currently require proof of vaccination or testing on entry and seating will not be socially distanced however we ask that you continue to join us in making sure the venue remains a safe environment to work in and visit throughout the Christmas period.
Following the latest guidance face coverings will be mandatory in all indoor venues from Friday 10 December. Please see FAQ for full details.
Audience members are also encouraged to take a rapid lateral flow test before attending a performance.
Please do not attend if you are unwell or need to isolate.
Is the panto still going ahead?
YES! Currently all performances are scheduled to go ahead as planned. We will continue to follow government advice and will update ticket holders and the FAQ's if anything changes.
Will I need to wear a face covering?
YES. Following the latest UK Government advice, a face covering will be mandatory for all visitors (over the age of 11) from Friday 10 December. Audiences at all indoor venues will need to wear a face covering throughout your visit including the performance unless exempt (or whilst actively eating and drinking).
Face coverings are not recommended for children under the age of 6 for health and safety reasons. Although not mandatory we recommend that children under the age of 11 wear a face covering if possible.
Government advice on face coverings and details of exemptions can be found HERE
Do I need to show a covid pass on entry?
No. The Pantomime is a mid-size capacity and fully seated event which does not currently require audiences to show proof of vaccination or negative test on entry. We will continue to update our policies in light of Government and industry advice and we will inform ticket holders and update the FAQ's in the event of any changes.
We do however recommend that visitors take a test before attending to help us to maintain a safe environment at the venue.
Please do not attend if you have a positive test result or show any symptoms, see FAQ for full details.
What happens if I cannot attend due to covid?
If you feel ill or need to isolate before your visit.
Please email the Reading Arts Box Office HERE to discuss your ticket options at least 4 hours before the performance time. Please note that we are unable to offer assistance if we have not been notified in advance of the performance.
Please do not attend the venue if you...

have experienced symptoms in the last 10 days;
have been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 10 days;
have arrived in England in the last 14 days and are not covered by the exemption rules relating to self-isolation;

My child is under 18 months old, do they need a ticket?
You do not need to book a ticket in advance for a child under 18 months, just a £1 Babes in Arms ticket which can be purchased from the Box Office on arrival.
This is to ensure we have an accurate count of people in the auditorium, in the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation of the building.
